Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool from Within Windows Vista

To start the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool from within Windows Vista, use the following steps.

1. From the Windows Vista default Start menu, click Control Panel.

2. In Control Panel, click Classic View, and then double-click Administrative Tools.

3. In Administrative Tools, double-click Memory Diagnostics Tool.

   Note: The Memory Diagnostic Tool can also be launched by typing Start Search keyword: mdsched.

4. In the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.

5. In the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool dialog box, click Restart now and check for problems (recommended).

6. The computer restarts and launches the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool.

7. For additional testing options, press the F1 key.
